The best deal on pine shavings???

That's where I got mine...over by the rodent supplies

I would think walmart would be expensive compared to a feed store, but if that's your only option???

I'm sure some people will be concerned about new / recent shredded trees from the tree cutters where the shavings aren't dried and may be from different kinds of trees with potentially different diseases. I don't know how much of a concern it is, but maybe if you know the trees are all pine and that the shredded bits are dry, it might not even be an issue. May be worth a try.

Best case would be to find a local furniture company that works in pine... I'm sure you could get tons of free dry stuff that way.

I'm intrigued by the idea of using pellet stove pellets. Chickens are usually pretty good at knowing what to / not to eat (other than Styrofoam) and don't think wood pellets would confuse them.

My tree trimmer guy said the shavings were all pine before I got a chance to ask him. He also supplies shavings to chickens houses like Tyson so this is one reason I wasn't afraid to deal with him. So far so good. Hopefully it will work out for me because he sells a truck load for $40.00. I guess time will tell.
