the BIG Chill, La style (3 pics) added a couple more

I am STILL waiting to see my first Pileated Woodpecker, I know they are out there!

lol, I usually hear them before I see 'em. They sound like they are laughing, just like Woody Woodpecker. I think they have the coolest hairdo.
I'll trade you temps....we were 4 degrees this morning.

I think we only made it to 40 today, tonight it's supposed to be close to 22. I guess winters last for a long time where you live.
Amazed you had a freeze down there. But, with all the strange climate changes lately I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Is a freeze occasionally normal for your neck of the woods?

Keep the pics coming when you can - they are truly inspiring to us photo-compromised, like me!

Happy New Year.

We have freezing temps here, but when it gets in the low 20's that when ya get nervous. Every few yrs or so we've gotten snow, 2000 was the last time we had any.We got 5 inches or so & that was usual.
I went galavantin outside this morning and I went ice skatin... without skates. LOL. My tailbone hurts, but my pride hurts worse. It's allll good.

Glad you're alright.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments.I really enjoy sharing them with yall, just a plain old Kodak Easyshare camera. We're just very fortunate to live in a beautiful place.

If the wind doesn't blow.............

How much snow do you have on the ground? We have about an inch or three, some places its just ice and compacted snow - its pretty nasty. I'd like to get rid of it all..... (just in time for the next snow)

That's about like us....it's "sunk" down to 3 or 4 inches in most places....except for the ditches. I'm ready to get rid of all the icy paths I have to walk on everyday. I'm sure you're right tho....things will get melted off just in time for the next round of winter!!

Great pics bayou. Are you on the Ouachita River? Your pictures look like Lake Bistinuea where I am. Gotta love this Louisiana weather! 20 degrees tonight and it will be back in the 70's on Sunday.

Hi joanm, no it's not. But I did grow up by the Ouachita in Monroe.I've never been to Bistinuea but I've heard it's beautiful there. Yeah, don't ya just love this weather we're having. Feels like riding a rollercoaster.

The other two decided that the water was too cold & flew back right at me.Everyone is back in the yard now & I'm sure they'll try again when it's not so cold.

Bayouchica - I LOVE your pictures, and I think you mentioned that you like to walk in the woods at night. I like to do that too, but I'd rather do that in your neck of the woods!

That last pic of the ducks, how cute.

love the added pics! we had snow here saturday morning! could not believe it, but a friend a few miles up the road got none! that is wild louisiana weather we are having! crazy! still to cold for me though! oh well, then this summer i will be complaining of the steaming hot high 90's to 100's degrees we will get. i like in the 60's to 80's and i like fall and spring all of which never stick around in my neck of the woods
