The biggest pest on the farm!!!Graphic

They have invaded 39 states including most east of the Mississippi--that includes HI were the whalers released them for food. Many of the southern animals are descendants of hogs the Spaniards freed when they were exploring the SE--they bred so well they were kind of a live commissary for them. Yes they are in NC as well as NH--some of the earliest releases of Russian boar were in NH.

Sometimes i wish we had wild hogs here...but i see all the crop damage

We have javelina here and they get more and more brave, they've even started entering city limits all over the greater phoenix area.

Oh they're in PA and in NYS in the southern tier so not that far from Tioga Co. PA--they're in Tioga Co NY.

Sure wish hubby had a chance to go hunting this year. I sooo wanted some hog meat!
Those hogs are nasty lil buggers, but oh so yummy!

I would rather have javelina than feral hogs running around. Feral hogs get much bigger & tear up the feilds to no end. Its hard to get the land back like it was after the hogs deystroy it. I use a boxs blade & then you come back & drag a ohera over it. Even after that its real bumpy.Like I said they are my #1 pest at the farm. One year the hogs deystroyed a hill on the farm. I named the hill hog hill. There's really no way to totally get rid of them. I just chip away at them. More bullets. I've traded hogs for bullets in the past.

I heard a while back on the news that the wild hog population was getting bad in the Smokies in Tn. They either trapped or hunted them because of the damage they were doing to the native plants or something of the like. Havent had any around here that I know of but I dont hunt so dont have any idea, really.

domesticated pigs can go feral very quickly when left on their own to forage for food. they get shaggy and if they aren't de-tusked at a young age for raising on the farms they will grow very large quickly!
