I take the picture when... they... are... still???? Believe me, I have lots of pics of the back of a duck head, a duck butt, or with the duck a complete blur. (I don't post those [IMG])

Thanks - I am so glad. When we first saw it, we thought she might have stuck to the egg and gotten a little damaged, or got in a fight with one of the sorter box ducks. But she stood up and flapped her wings and walked fine so we figured the damage couldn't be too extensive and let her go through a couple eat/sleep cycles before looking her over more thoroughly. Once I saw it start to come off, I was much less worried. It is on the wrong side of the duck to be an absorption issue so I wasn't worried about that but since I never hatch my own, I am used to getting relatively clean little fluff balls. [IMG] I will wet the spot and work it a bit and let her work on it some. Tomorrow when she has had 24hrs of eating and sleeping, I may give her a 100F swim time (fully supervised and then blow-dry and heat lamp after) if she still isn't fully clean. Otherwise they will probably all get a chance this weekend.

[IMG] Drat, I was hoping you had some trick to keep them still. Little buggers always seem to be moving or asleep.

Takes me a lot of pics to get good ones too, lol... usually after they're exhausted using me as their personal jungle gym... :D ;)

Yep, I get that stuff and pieces of membrane hatching Calls since assisting dries it more, it usually doesn't happen too much with the bigger ducks... now that it's irritating her, it may not be there in 24 hrs, lol... and the others might 'help' too... I've seen hatchmates grab pieces and yank them right off... :)

Here is some first day brooder time. I set the camera in the brooder with a washcloth propping up the lens. I could view what was on the camera from my phone, so that helped me select my zoom and which part of brooder life to include.

Warning: If your name happens to be Julie. This video contains moving, balancing webs and sleepy eyes. Make sure that you send your neighbors out for a nice dinner somewhere before viewing this video. I would hate to get you evicted due to excessive noise. [IMG]

[IMG][IMG][IMG] It's a good thing you included the Julie warning!!! Might also want to contact her local air traffic controller. [IMG]
