The Broody Duck Thread for 2014

I'm not sure if it was tilted or not. We are on day 29 and yes mam I have food and water in with her and the baby. He's the most precious thing I have ever seen!
That sure is adorable. okay day 29 not to worry give her a few more days, if she doesn't hear peeping she'll get up and leave soon. I sure hope the rest are just taking their sweet time about hatching. I'd candle again tomorrow and check for internal pip you should be able to hear peeping to if you listen and also where air sac is. this is what your looking for

thank you the eggs are so thick you can't see much but I couldn't help myself I candle them all and one has a big air sac 3 of them have a small one and the last one I couldn't see one at all I might not be doing it right but I really hope I get at least one more. If not will he be okay by himself

He/she has it's mama of course it will be okay. Are you candling from fat end? big air sac sounds good, maybe the other ones with smaller ones are just further behind.

Yes mam I was candling the fat end. I partitioned her off with food and water but at what point should I let her outside away from everybody else of course

I'd take down the partition as long as the others can't get to her the duckling or the nest. This will give you an indication on whats going on with the others, if she gets off the nest with the duckling and doesn't go back then I'd say she is through. But lets see what's going on in there today before you do. Let me know what's going on. Hopefully more ducklings on the way.

so far no more babies. I'm hoping to have the new duck house done today all that's left is the door and roof. If I take down the partition that gives everybody access. I will have to make some modifications to block everybody else out. Just got home from work maybe we will have some babies when I get up.

I just wanted to ask if there are any other broody duck breed other than muscovies. I don't mind the muscovies but their personality is a major turn-off.
