The Broody Duck Thread for 2014

Are you sure she started brooding all these eggs at the same time? Really not sure on those 2. seems air sac is straight across instead of tilted
That is an adorable pic.
I'm 99.9 percent sure she started all at the same time as I marked them from day 1 and they are pretty much strait up and down. They were not that big the other day though

The first kind of eggs are bad, the second set of eggs are probably shrink wrapped or dead in shell. I would open a small window in the top of the egg to see if there is any movement. They are past due date right?
Yes they were due on sunday

I hope this doesn't come out sounding stupid but by the top do you mean the small end and how small should I make it and what's the best way to do it and should I do them all to make sure.

I use something sharp and strong to poke a small hole in the top (air cell end so you don't poke/scratch the baby) then you can chip off small, very small pieces to see what's going on in there.
When I opened a small hole in my goose egg I use my cordless drill and a small screw 1"wood screw. made the perfect size hole. I just went in far enough to make the hole then started chipping away shell. I knew she was gone though before i started. Can you tell any difference in the way your eggs feel from each other like weight and warmth. Asking because on the day before the gosling dies in the shell the egg was warm the next day when I picked up the egg and my goose was still sitting on it I could tell right off there was something different it was not as warm as day before.
