I have found that the duck will push out a dead egg. Also, i read on this thread that a dead egg won't hold heat so if your dark egg is warm i would leave it with her. I almost threw out an egg that was dark but because of what i read i didn't and it hatched two days later. Hope this helps. Good luck

I had a duck sitting on 5 eggs 4 days after they were supposed to hatch and she had a little duckling with her they were all warm I guess from where she was sitting on them but they were all dead in the shell

Mine are due to hatch Sunday and I candled them today and the 8 that are left are all still alive hoping for a better hatch this time!

She won't let me near them, she gets so upset, so candling them is out of the question. I thought I had a mixed clutch of kc's and scovies, but the kc's would have been due tues and I got nothing. So i'm thinking they may be all muscovies and be due this tues. Unless she's sitting on a few duckilings and eggs, I only see a few eggs sticking out around her. i'm so sorry to hear about your last hatch one of my hatches was on the 35th day, I almost threw the egg out. the next hatch was right on time. hopefully everything will go well this time for you. good luck

I know what you mean mine gets pretty bent too. I hope Tuesday brings you lots of ducklings
