i'm so sorry to hear about your last hatch      one of my hatches was on the 35th day, I almost threw the egg out. the next hatch was right on time. hopefully everything will go well this time for you. good luck

I really don't know what's going on but I went out today and she was off the nest and I only have 4 left no sign of the others anywhere I had 1 disappear last time without a trace I'm pretty sure my hatches are doomed. I don't think I will be doing this again anytime soon. It's pretty disappointing to wait and wait and loose most of them. I just hope the remaining ones actually hatch. I guess a snake got them is the best I can figure

Is mom acting distressed? do you have rats? a snake could eat one but that's it till about 4 days later.

she acts like she's half crazy but she's been like that from the get go. As far as rats go I'm sure they could be here but in 3 years I have not seen one. We have coons, opossums, snakes , bear, bobcat, and coyotes, I just figured a snake was the only one that could leave with it and not leave a trace

that's kinda what I thought.. I guess these guys are gonna be slow to hatch or I got my days mixed up nothing is going on with them yet so I candled them they all still have definite veining and I saw movement in two of them.

Sounds like they may be a bit behind schedule hope you see some ducklings soon.

me too! I thought letting her do all the work would make it not stressful... yeah right

I had a 5 foot oak snake eat 5 week old muscovy ducklings at one time. It was so fat it couldn't get back out of the brooder. That was a sad day.
