If it stunk that bad, she may have been getting rid of a bad egg or one that wasn't fertilized anyway. They seem to know sometimes when there's a bad one. Hope for the best on the rest and that she's gonna be a good mommy.

I believe I'd candle to see if you have anymore that maybe on the point of bursting. which would be bad for those still getting ready to hatch. If it stunk that bad, she may have been getting rid of a bad egg or one that wasn't fertilized anyway. What a sweet pic, are you keeping any of them?
This was last week when they were 3 wks old, I let them out on the pond and to also see dad. He is protective and doing ok with them, but once in awhile he goes after one and grabs them by the butt and is rough. When i see him do that, I just put the babies back in the pen, he seems a bit jealous of them when it comes to sharing mom and food. But they loved being out and i think mom really missed going for a swim. Sold 3 more, so I only have 4 left now. I was so worried 16 was gonna be a few to many to get rid of, it was no problem.
the one that stunk is the one i threw out i have no idea what happened to the other one their was no sign of it anywhere, no shell no yolk nothing, i would assume that if she through it out their would have been something left, im figuring a snake got it.If it stunk that bad, she may have been getting rid of a bad egg or one that wasn't fertilized anyway. I did candle them last night and 8 of them you could see definate veining and a little movement on some of them, the 9th one i couldn't see any definitive veining so im not sure about that one. This is the first time i have had a broody and the first time i've had ducks so im not 100% sure what to do with that one.I believe I'd candle to see if you have anymore that maybe on the point of bursting. which would be bad for those still getting ready to hatch.
