When they go FULL term and by that I mean the required amount of time for that particular breed, inside that egg should be BLACK, no clearness at all. Totally black except where the air cell is.

It's a quitter, that entire egg should be pitch black, you can see right threw it so that tells me some time along the process it decided. OK enough is enough.

Sorry to say this one is not here anymore.

How old is the Hen and the Drake??? is there more then one drake? is there more drakes then Hens?
I have 7 hens and just the one drake Alvin.. with the Sinus infection you helped me with. I was told they are about a year old but I'm not real sure. Unfortunately my husband already thru them out and said he was not going back to get them.

oh, infection is incredibly taxing on the system! No wonder his eggs didn't do well. I wouldn't worry about it, wait til he's well 100%. Also, antibiotics can affect sperm.

you know I didn't even think about that. They were just all developing so well right till the end. He seems to be doing well so far no swelling

Well my Theroy is you have to give them two weeks to breed at least, when I have tried to hatch eggs before the two weeks, they have always turned out Clear.  Clear usually means not fertiled however other factors could be the reason as well.

As far as the other one, well he's just a quitter and sometimes you do get that, if the Momma gets off the egg to long, this will cause it, if the egg gets to cold, if theres water in the area and it's been submerged.  There's quite a few reasons as to why they quite it could even be the parents diet.  But after 10 days, you can tell if you are going to have a good hatching or not, there's no reason to wait full term, in fact, I do not advise it because adventurally the egg builds up gasses and can cause it to Explode THEN you have a HUGE mess on your hands. LOL  Even if they are under the hen they can still Explode and if that happens, who or however many eggs are under her at the time.  Will not hatch.. if they do it's ONLY because they were in a safe spot and didn't get that exploding egg on them.
when I candled them a week ago you could still see veins and then I found 2 fully developed babies in broken eggs a day apart I had thrown out 2 that weren't developing I guess I missed that last one
