The Buckeye Thread

I'm really enjoying this discussion. You guys are going to talk me into Buckeyes if you carry on like this! LOL They sound like a wonderful breed that I will definitely recommend to other chicken keepers who are looking to add to their flocks.

All of my mature males and most of young ones will walk up to me; cutting there wings along the ground; puffy up their chests and stand right in front of you wanting to be picked up. They are very gentle and they will actually stay in your way until you acknowledge them. They are the only breed that is like this in my opinion.

Really?!? A continental breed that isn't flighty. That's good. Are they a big as the buckeyes with good laying capabilities?

Awesome! The standard suggests that the males are a 2 lb smaller bird. That's cool though; good luck with them. Aren't they supposed be a tighter feathered bird like the buckeye?

Good luck at the show. I've had amazing success showing my buckeyes. I was on Champion row 4 out of 5 times that I showed last year. I'm excited about this year; the birds are looking even better and I have more of them

Glad more people are starting to show Buckeyes. There hasn't been much competition out there for the most part for those showing the last couple years. Have fun

Really, there still isn't with the buckeyes but winning that American class is a doosie! There a a bunch of really nice birds in that class!
