The Buckeye Thread

A second shout out needs to go to Bill and Geri Dyke for earning Best of Breed and Reserve of Breed this past weekend at the District meet in Lebanon IN. This was there first time exhibiting poultry. Congrats to them as well!! It's nice to see people taking interests in exhibiting these fine birds...... We've had a number of new exhibitors this fall showing of their buckeyes proudly....I hope the numbers continue to grow in all regions of the country outside of Ohio!!

I like to give a shout out to Marie Taylor and her daughter from our club. They exhibited LF Buckeyes at the North Carolina State fair and cleaned house with them both in the open and junior shows. Attached are a few pics. Marie placed Grand Champion LF with a very nice cockerel she raised this year and her daughter placed "Best female" with a Buckeye hen. Congratulations on both of their successes in the FIRST time ever exhibiting! Go Buckeye Nation

NOT bad for her first show!

Go Buckeyes!

I too think it is great for the breed. Not only are people showing more and more buckeyes but they are competing well with the long time winners of the American class. Congrats to all who are showing this great breed. Anyone who knows of anyone showing buckeyes and them doing well, please let us know. We want to congratulate anyone who does well in the show pen with buckeyes.

Finally got the pic from the Bantam my daughter exhibited and won her class with at the EOPA show courtesy of Bill Wulff of the Poultry Press. Bill is a great guy, good friend and strong supporter of my daughter......

That's a very nice bantam. I'm hoping we'll be seeing more of these little birds in the show rings in future. There doesn't seem to be many bantam Buckeye breeders though? Compared to LF?

There are a few of them......but like the LF buckeye, they just need a little exposure and they'll take off
