The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

Hurricane Lauras last stand... we are likely going to get 1 to 4 hours of rain from that but its mostly passing north of us last time I checked. We actually need the rain since we haven't had a good rain in about a week or 2. I had to go back to watering plants. I also need some heavy rain so I can inspect the rabbit pens and how they handle rain. The first pen is done with water proofing but the 2nd needs a rain inspection. The issue with rabbit pens is that they need so much air flow that wind driven rain and splattering water coming off the shade shrubs gets in and I have to install preventative angled boards that allow air in while keeping water out. I prefer a heavy rain now before it gets cold so when I get wet during the inspection I do not get cold too.

I let the female white Rex out of her cage and she struggled to move at first. I believe it was the first time in her life she was not in a cage. The guy I bought brought them to the buying location with a carrier cage with both rabbits crammed in a time space. I arrived with a large van with 2 giant cages and immediately they already had it better. These 2 new rabbits are not as friendly, they kick when I try to hold them. Tomorrow the male is going to get some leash time because I get the feeling he needs exercise. I am about to head out and build some caves/tunnels for the females pen like my other female rabbit has. maybe spending time with the new rabbits might calm them down.
I am so glad that you got them, it sounds like they had it not so good before you. I cannot wait to get my rabbits in their new big house. Mine are super friendly, but it took a while to get them there. The albino is a bit of a challenge because I think it has a hard time seeing to being with so she isn't as friendly as my other 2.

I was just in OBX and the storms were insane there every single night. It was nice to watch, but you couldn't go in the ocean because there were red flags the whole week.

I was just looking at trees and such to add to my dog kennel where the rabbits house is... This dog kennel is 30 feet by 40 feet so it is massive. I was thinking myrtles or something, but the store said that they will not get a shipment until the 2nd week of September. The trees they did have weren't really what I wanted.

The vet will be able to recommend what treatment to use. Use tweezers to pluck them out. You can use a dog flea comb (a lot of people use these for grooming anyways) after and that'll help get any little ones out. Don't bathe him though. He'll go into shock, he could get hypothermia, and rabbits aren't ment to be in water. If he's really dirty you can use a damp cloth.
Yes ive been watching alot of lennon the bunny's videos very informative but in all the videos she says a rabbit has to be neutered to be litter trained and i cant find any neutering services near me and the vet near me says he will check him for mites, ticks soar feet and also check his poo but doesnt do surgeries. Can he still he litter trained?

Yes... they don’t have to be fixed to litter train... but do be aware that males mark that’s why neutering is needed with males. It’s just like a dog or cat... they use it to claim their territory.

That’s one reason I stopped watching that YouTuber... they say bunnies should be inside free range... not in my house! My bunnies would rather be outside enjoying the weather than being in the house where there’s nothing natural to them. My bunnies live the grass, bushes, and trees... not hardwood flooring

Once my dog and the bunny are okay with each other (if they ever are) then hes gonna be in the lawn too for now hes gonna be on the terrace its okay if he marks territory when hes down
