The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

These are a mini rex over NZW. The mini rex is a little more aggressive breeding and I was having some trouble getting her to breed, so I stuck her in with him to see if he'd get the job done and he did - we have nine in the nest box. They'll probably all be meat.

I found this page with a nearly identical situation but no chilled kit. But the post blockage swelling and redness and the almost gaping wound look to it is the same;

It turned out OK for them with just some daily cleaning for 5 days. Hoping for the same results.

Maybe missing one stimulation just cascaded it. Assuming it popped out of the box while nursing. If mom has the rest of them eliminating properly it was probably just a fluke 🤞

I actually get mine from walmart, although I haven't been there much this year. They have boxes that look just like the costco boxes. I haven't needed a new nesting box in a while though and I put in tunnels/caves for the rabbits. I am going to regret doing that if I end up with stillborn rabbits. It will take a lot of work to get it out. I still like the underground tunnel/cave for female rabbits to give birth in because its warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
There's a guy on you tube that uses totes buried in the ground for his nesting boxes! I bet if you were to bury some pipe in the ground for the tunnel and attach it to the totes your rabbit would use it, then you can just lift the lid off when you need to check on the kits! I think the channel is the Rabbitry Center. I would like to do this for my rabbits, the tunnel can be set up to go from the hutch down into the tote in the ground, it's a pretty cool set up and the temp stays cooler or warmer, depending on what time of year!

I wanted to go underground and have a giant colony with all sorts of stations I could access but I have flooding issues here to where I have to build things up. I can access the nests by removing the cage I keep the breeding male i n but recently had to put in concrete paver floors and suddenly a simple cave removal is now removing 6 concrete pavers from out of a cage. Its going to be a bit of work now.

Oh wow, that does sound like a lot of work! The flooding issues do not sound good!

@A Peacock called Penelope
Omg I'm so sorry, my notifications haven't been working so I didn't see your posts.
Can you attach some pictures of his whole setup? Did you find hay? How did you setup the litter box? Does he have toys, a water bowl, a blanket, and places to hide?
Sure I will tomorrow yes he has a water bowl yes he has a blanket and he has a crate type thing he loves to sit on top of it litter box is small ill expand it once I find a puppy play pen things are so difficult to find here and yes I am growing grass and until then I brought hay from my village. He is in a cage. I like to open him while I take online classes which gets him 8 hours outside and sometime outside at night too under light when I'm doing my homework he is very active at night. And no problem it's totally fine. He has a pine cone and I made a few toys. He doesn't play with them he only likes his blanket.

so i had to share this our oldest bunny Zeezee is so silly she likes to be held like a baby and her belly rubbed
