The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

I have been trolling my Cannabis smoking friends with these pictures driving them nuts.

They do not know that its hemp. Rabbits love it. Calms them done a bit with CBD.
HAHAHAHA this is hilarious. I can tell that it is hemp and not Cannabis, don't ask me how I know LOL. My dogs love eating leaves like that too. My beagle goes mental over them and I never figured out why. We have eaten them and they taste like grass to me, but I am sure that they realize the positive affects within their body.

I am thinking about giving my Funny Bunnies (that is what I call them) some. I am not sure that anything can beat roses though. My rabbits love to have roses and also fresh dried fruit chips from the dehydrator. Snow loves dried herbs too from the dehydrator.

Rabbits are so intelligent. Bugs learned how to remove the grid blocking his way and now he gets out. I had to catch him 3 times today and I'm exhausted and disappointed. I have no other choice left instead of locking him in the cage again and he doesn't trust me anymore he doesn't even let me touch him. Wht can I do to gain his trust again? Pakistan is really the worst place to keep rabbits in.

I would work on not letting him get out and maybe providing more room for him in general if possible.

Soo, today we moved my rabbits over to the new house. It went well, we haven't set up their run yet just because we are so busy with the rest of the move. Sometime next week it'll go up and they'll get their nice new setup. :)

However, I want to ask for some help if at all possible. I went over there this evening to check on them and do some other things, and the mosquitoes were HORRIBLE. I knew we had bad bugs there; no one has lived in that house for months and the foliage is pretty overgrown too. I just didn't expect there to be a literal little cloud of mosquitoes hovering around my poor buns tonight. Their noses were pink even.

My dad still can't quite spray or fog, especially since I'd have to move the rabbits again. In fact, it's probably gonna be a bit until the bugs are gonna go down over there. At least I remembered quickly that I had pet-safe fly spray, so I put some on their faces (I hope that's alright--I assumed so) and it seemed to help a lot. If only they won't lick it all off tonight. 🙄 I also set up their fan which I think helps blow some of them away and we also had a bug zapper I set up as well.

My question was, is there anything I can like put on the walls or roof of the cage that'll help repel the mosquitoes? Any other things to put on my buns, or just keep going with the fly spray? I wasn't certain if anyone knew of anything that I can use to keep the bugs down.

I feel awful about this. :( I had no idea the mosquitoes would be so horrible. Thanks for any help!

Do you have any type of citronella? I dont know how well it would help without lighting it though. You may want to think of planting the citronella geranium around their area. I know some herbs are natural bug repellents but I don't remember off hand which ones.

Citronella works great just as the plant itself. There are also other plants like lemongrass.

Also making a natural repellent that’s safe for bunnies would work. I use all natural repellent on all my dogs.

We are fostering a dog and getting her today! I’m so excited!!!

I don't believe we have any type of citronella, no. I will have to look into getting that. I can also research some herbs, too. Thanks for the help!

Okay, I'll have to look up some plants then aha. Thanks for the suggestion. :) I thought about making a natural repellent, too. Fly spray was just the first thing I had on hand. I may not do anything immediately this morning but we are going over later so I may be able to do something then.

And congrats on fostering a dog! That sounds like so much fun. :)

loveyourmama.com has good stuff. You could try to make your own if you already have the ingredients, but if you dont it’ll be on the expensive side. Essential oils of good quality can be hard to find and expensive. Not to mention the ethical practices of the companies that sell/make them.

Well thank goodness when I went over there this morning it seemed my attempts to keep the mosquitoes off of them last night worked overnight! I didn't see one mosquito around them. I did reapply fly spray and I'll see how they're doing later when I go back over there.

Okay, thank you. I think we have peppermint extract but I don't know if I'm able to use that--I've never tried to make any repellents and we don't use essential oils. Guess I'd have to research some things to see what I can do. May stay away from buying anything too expensive right now, only because I don't have a job and since we are moving we are trying to not buy extra stuff we don't need. If I'm unable to make anything, at least I know I have my fly spray I can use that'll work. Thanks so much for the help. :)
