Yeah, I was afraid of that. They wont go to waste though. The biology teacher will take them for the snakes. I checked even before breeding because I cant stand the thought of just throwing them away.

That's actually why I got my dermasitd (flesh eating/bone cleaning) beetles. ;o; I feel so bad even composting them even though they grow my garden - like they're worthless. Now I get skeletons and bones from them and feel a little better. <3

As long as there is a purpose it makes it a little less crappy. Thats why I checked with this teacher before even thinking of breeding. Although I probably wouldve put them online for sale for the same purpose.

Does anyone use the body heat method? I had a doe give birth right next to the nest box on the wire and I walked around with nine chilly babies in my bra for half an hour or so. It was. A day.

To me that's only sufficient if the kits are still moving. If they're cold and still I use warm water ASAP.

Yes! They were moving. This was quite some time ago, all survived. The water method is good to know!

Moderately related but one of the reasons I like solid bedded floors is kits chill slower on them than on the wire. Fewer winter losses.

I thought I'd share this funny picture of Lion my sister got when I was trimming his nails yesterday--he HATES his nails getting done and he always throws fits. He was pretty good through most of it this time--but you can see he was NOT happy about it lol!
