The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

He has a corner litter box that clips onto the cage. cage is 5 feet by about 22 inches, with a platform, and underneath space. he hasn't touched his hay yet (1 week) not even a bite. its in the hay manger by the litter box. He loves the branches and dried weeds and leaves. he prefers to drink out of his bowl then the water bottle. the minute we open his door he comes out. He will run all the way back in to drink and come out again immediately. So I know he will be able to do it with pee and poop if he figures it out. but 80% of poop and pee is in the litter pan, but 20% is all over his cage. We move it into the litter as soon as we see it... but I am then always touching poop!!
He hasn't touched his hay????? That's isnt good. Hay makes up 80% of their diet.
He could go into GI stasis and die with 24 hours. I would contact your vet.
Rabbits often don't show many symptoms when things are wrong because they are prey animals.
Is it alfalfa hay?
What else are you feeding him?

Water bowls are much more natural for rabbits and allow them to drink more. Adult rabbits drink as much as a large dog. And water bottles dont allow much water to come out. They can also cause spinal issues from the odd angle they have to drink from. That's he prefers to use the bowl

Once he's a bit older and has been fixed he shouldn't poop or owe outside of the litter box. Sounds like he's on the right track though :)

that Home Depot tunnel is a great idea. were there all the time, so will pick one up for sure.
How do they bond rabbits? Can I do similar with my cat?
I’ve heard that bonding rabbits is difficult. My rabbit is kind of bonded with a few of my cats, but I try to make sure that they are almost always supervised.
It helps if you just let the cat and rabbit figure each other out, but you want to make sure that the cat isn’tswatting the rabbit or stalking it, even if it’s trying to play.

Well... I've had 4 rabbits in my life before him. Two lived in a hutch in my garage when I was a kid. One in my high rise apartment in the city when I was in University, and one in a house after school with my roommates. None ever got hay. Like EVER. So Im not worried about death.
He has been eating pellets and twigs/bark/branches. A slice of banana, and one cracker in the past week.

It is hay that has Timothy, Alfalfa, June grass and other grasses. Quite a bit of alfalfa and Timothy. I get it in bales and 5 x5 rounds because we have a barn and animals.

HI all! I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but my husband and I are looking for a breeding pair of Silver Foxes (they can be young and not ready to breed, as long as they can safely be bred together in the future is what matters) we are in IN :)

You can also check out the Livestock Conservancy for breeders. They are listed as a Recovering breed.

The corner litter boxes do not work they are way too small for a bunny. I would recommend going to get an actual cat litter box with a top on it
