The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

Hi yall! Does anyone have an idea why our bunny is changing colors? We have had him since August 26th... he was tiny and dark gray... here he is yesterday... started out with the tiny cream spots on his back and now getting swirls of cream... and the tiny spots are long hair...

First of all, he is adorable!!!!!!!!!

What he's doing is pretty normal. He's just going through a molt it seems. You'll just need to groom him more than usual. Maybe every other day for about 10 mins.
Is he young? Sometimes they change color as they age.

Thank you! Yes, I think he may be somewhere around 12-13 weeks... maybe a little older..
And okay, will do... I was wondering that he must be a mixed breed and that’s why he was getting random spots... ..... the vet thought he was a dwarf and the girl at the feed store where we got him said he was a dwarf but I’m not so sure... if he is I think he may be mixed...
He is out in his outdoor play area in those pics... here’s his house... and he potty trained himself!

Yeah sounds like he’s shedding. That could also be the color of his undercoat.

Thank you for the tips ❤
Just relax. He can sense your agitation. Just remember, when you’re standing you’re huge to him. Move calmly and talk calmly. No need to tread on egg shells, just do what you’ve been doing. Most rabbits are not snuggle bunnies.

@EverythingDucks Sorry for not getting pictures to you from the other day, but here are a few of my set up for my rabbits! :)

It has a wooden covered 'barn' for protection from the elements (Lion loves to sit out in storms though lol) and I never put much else but their pellets in there. They use the bathroom there so toys sometimes get dirty and any kind of bed or box we put in there they just pee and poo in. :sick And then the wire 'run', which also has a balcony they enjoy sitting on. Their hay and water is situated there. You can see that I also have their fan set up as well.

We still need to set up a tray to catch the hay that falls through the wire, we never really did it, and then it was just one of those projects that got pushed to the side. I won't need it so much once we get their new run system set up, though. I always repurpose the hay for something if it gets too dirty on the ground.

And then the big pen; I had the chair there for something to hide under for them the other day lol since we don't have any boxes or cover right now. I usually use a chair to sit in anyways to watch them. I really can't wait to set up my new run system, aha. The summers can get so hot so it'll be nice to finally let them out every day without having to sit in 90/100 degree weather.
