The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

Hello! I have 2 female, unspayed 9 month old rabbits. I just went out to check on them and they did this to their litter box. They have never done this before. What is going on? Today is the first day of spring here so maybe it has something to do with their winter coats? Do they pull that out themselves or does it just fall out? I didn't have any hay in their litter box so they pulled it in there themselves from their hay rack. Thank you for any insight you might have.

Either one fo them has a fake pregnancy (not unusual) or one of them is actually a male (it's hard to sex young rabbits).

This is from pulling fur out to make a nest for babies.

Well...It's that time of year again: it's been steadily getting hotter and hotter here in FL, save a few cool spells, and the mosquitoes are getting awful again. :(

I believe I have asked about this before on here...if any of you remember, my family and I moved a few months ago, and the new home has had so many bugs because it sat empty for a long time with no one living here. The mosquitoes are just terrible when it gets hot like this. Thankfully we moved around October so fall and winter were around the corner, but in the heat I've had to resort to relying on a fan to blow most of them away and continually applying fly spray to my rabbits, who have been less than thrilled about it, lol.
I did set up a bug zapper too that we have but I don't think it does much from previous experience... at least mosquito-wise.

Anyways, does anyone know of and mind re-telling me about some 'natural' ways to try to keep down the mosquitoes? I remember there was a type of plant I could buy, but I know there were a few other things to either spread/put around their hutch and run or make something to spray/spread.
The one thing I wanted to ask (and I'll research some stuff too--but I like personal opinions/experiences!) is does anyone know if pine sol will keep down mosquitoes? Similar to my situation here, at the barn I ride at the flies are getting bad again and one of the ladies was spraying pine sol around some of the stalls and it helped a ton with the flies, so I was curious if it knocked back mosquitoes too?

Thanks bunny people!

I'm not sure about a way to keep them out the house other than fly screens but I do know a way to stop them biting you. Take vitamin B1 and they'll quit.

There is a geranium that repels them, several types of herbs and the Shoo Fly plant. No, really, that is its name ๐Ÿคฃ
Pennyroyal, rosemary and sage are some herbs that are supposed to be good at repelling insects, I hear. Do NOT ingest pennyroyal. Its toxic and builds up in your system. It smells great, but looks exactly like mint. I wasn't aware of this and since it is in the mint family I thought it would be good to plant them together. Now I cant use my mint ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ

any rabbit owners out there that have advice on clipping rabbit nails? My bunny hates getting picked up and probably won't tolerate nail trimming either
Ooh, my sympathies. Carhart jacket, welding gloves (maybe, they might spook it) and put them on their back on your lap. Two people are pretty much are requirement.
If you can get the rabbit out of the cage with its head tucked into your arm, that helps. Easier said than done though. What kind of rabbit?
