The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

Looks good!
Couple of questions:
- do you have your animals vet checked before sale? Obviously they're healthy, but most people will say an animal theyre selling is. What if someone questions you?
- how was it creating your website? Is it costly? I’ve looked into it, but got confused pretty quick.
- how did you get your rabbits pedigreed? I would like to do that with mine. I know the general steps, but have never done it with any of ours.
- is that the going rate for a holland lop in your area? It sounds high to me
Thanks!
- the parents are vet checked, the babies wont be, but I will do an examination - I will add that info! Thanks!
- The website was free! Super easy, but I have done a few before. Just go onto Weebly and get going!
- All of my breeders came pedigreed, so I have all of their info. They are not 'registered', which is an additional option that can be done on rabbits with all of their pedigree paperwork. Most are not registered. Just ask the breeders of your original rabbits if you can have their pedigrees. Most charge a little bit.
- It is not the going rate for a pet (that's about $50), but it is low for ones from show lines. Most of this caliber go for $100-$200. I know it can seem steep, but there's a difference for those looking to show/breed. No problem with asking!

Thanks for the input!

👍😉 🤣
I would love to get mine looked at by an ARBA judge. I thought about asking when I get my second doe from him. Do you show?

My doe Amelia has started nesting today 😄. This is her first time having kits, and my first time breeding as well. The thing is, she does not want to nest in the nest box, and instead is just pacing the bars of her cage trying to find a nest. Any tips on how to get her to nest in the box? Her due date is April 5th

Weather shouldnt be an issue, but if she doesnt use the nest box you can put them in there yourself once they're born. They should be fine. Do make sure they are covered in case the weather does take a turn. Keep in mind that I have no idea what your weather is like, so my point is keep the cage from getting wet and too cold.

I did the mistake of looking at a local shelter....and I happened to find that they have my next dream rabbit: a blue Harlequin. Hes only 5 months old and so adorable 😍

I kinda am trying to convince my mom to maybe at least see him lol although I doubt anything is gonna happen. Housing, care, and costs arent the problem--just that my dad doesnt want more animals aha.

I shouldnt have looked 😅 but hes so adorable, just look at this picture of him at the shelter though, he seems so perfect 😭

Weather shouldn't be a problem, she lives in the house. Although she did stop nesting completely, so I'm wondering if she got exited, and maybe she will start nesting again closer to her due date. Or maybe she's going through a false pregnancy which would be a bummer 😕

Oh good! You can keep a very close eye on her then. Patience is the best advice then ☺️
