The case of the shrinking comb

For reference, here are two photos of my Leghorn at different times. Note the difference in comb size.

Edited to add: First pic while laying and not molting. Second pic while molting and not laying.

Yes dramatic difference! But the points of the comb remains the same.

Okay color change I can buy. But the comb looks as though it’s been dubbed. Zoom in and count the points. Leg color. 3 different chickens IMO.

When chickens are in production, the color of their legs are paler.

I can only base things of my personal experiences. I have a LH that for all intents and purposes looked just as bad if not worse than the first picture. Considering molt’s (Annually in adults) that plumage is pristine & lush. So are the pictures years later? Dunno anything’s possible I guess. It’s been 2 years for my LH and granted she looks 1000% better but she’s still a ragamuffin. It just doesn’t sit right with my personal experiences. Who knows.
