THE CHEEPS ALMOST GOT ME!!!

Nope not bravery, seasonal craziness and self medication with chicks. I like bravery though it sounds so much nicer and way less crazy. :)
I cannot trust myself with an incubator! Ohhhh I want one so so so bad, but I just cant. I tend to go wayyy overboard in any obsession/hobby I pick up. You are so brave!

I’m half tempted to try incubating and hatching my own! How fun would that be? I have 3 kids who would love to watch that process! And maybe I could sell the chicks or keep 2 or so? Pft.

Do other chickens peck at them more because of their fuzz tops? I’m worried about integrating Polish which is why they aren’t on my wish list.

The very first chicks we had were hatched in my back bedroom as a homeschool project. It was one of the single most exhilarating moments of my life! :wee
Out of 6 eggs, 2 hatched & they were both roos. That was years ago & the kids are still traumatized from the rehoming experience. I am so jealous of all the hatch addicts on here, but they're allowed to have (or eat) roos & sadly I cant risk the odds of 50% of my hatch being male. We did get one accidental roo from the 'pullets' in the feed store. (*Note to self; Avoid the big chick that's standing in the middle of the food snarfing it all down.):lau
PS. Have you checked out the Polish threads yet? Lots of info to be found there. :old

You go smell that warm, clean chicken, girl! Do it. Right now. I love the way mine smell (I'm a weirdo, I love smelling my dogs' Frito feet, too, though).

I don't eat chicken, been veg for most of my life. But it's funny--my hubby is a diehard meat eater. And since I got my chickens he can't eat wings or legs any more, and he used to love them. It freaks him out. He has to eat a generic rectangle of chicken covered with sauce and cheese, like parmagian. I'm surprised he still eats eggs, lol.
Now go sniff your chickens, pronto! :lau

I think puppy paws smell like Fritos too! :highfive:

Gotta go for now, will leave room for the chick enablers (you know who you are, & I'm one of them).

 :lau:gig

Don't be jealous, even hatch junkies have that "rooster doom" over our heads. I got semi smart and only hatch faverolles so I know what I've got a couple weeks in. I've found out its a whoole lot easier to rehome a cute chick than a teenage rooster. Its the easy way out,but I'll sure take it. ;)
