THE CHEEPS ALMOST GOT ME!!!

Chickens smell good. They smell like....chicken!

No lie, I am always smelling the back of my chooks' necks when I hold them. It's like that warm, delicious baby-head smell you get off a newborn. Even my DH--who thought chickens were dirty and smelly before I got them--has to admit they smell good. :)

Now, go back and get those peepers! :)
Okay! Imma go out there and grab one and see. The only time I’ve cuddled one is when she was in the infirmary. And There’s something really gross about bloody chicken smell that makes your gut hurt. The anomaly hits you. You have pet chickens who you work hard to build a safe predator proof home. And then you have a freezer full of chicken. Most times I go about my life never pondering it. Then... moments like that just sink in. Bleh! :hmm

You go smell that warm, clean chicken, girl! Do it. Right now. I love the way mine smell (I'm a weirdo, I love smelling my dogs' Frito feet, too, though).

I don't eat chicken, been veg for most of my life. But it's funny--my hubby is a diehard meat eater. And since I got my chickens he can't eat wings or legs any more, and he used to love them. It freaks him out. He has to eat a generic rectangle of chicken covered with sauce and cheese, like parmagian. I'm surprised he still eats eggs, lol.

Now go sniff your chickens, pronto! :lau

(Edited for bad typing)

Do other chickens peck at them more because of their fuzz tops? I’m worried about integrating Polish which is why they aren’t on my wish list.
yes they get pecked on but have at least 2 so they can relate to eachother,

Intervention:
Alright, I'm back from re-measuring the coop. My broody hatched 3 pullets & I bought 2 pullets shortly after, this year. When looking at the empty spaces on the roosts & available floor space for when they are in for bad weather days, it leaves some space for them to move around & change their minds. Perfect! Don't want them stressed & cramped, the rooster & hens are so dear to me & lay eggs well.

So, I'll sign off for now, then click my heals & repeat out loud my best "blocker" for adding more chicks in 2018 (really liking the Swedish Flower hens story & looks, no that's not the "blocker"):
"THERE'S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR," "THERE'S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR," "THERE'S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR," .................. hmmmmmmmm. Best wishes.

Yes, i talk to people and they want chicks, i also post them on facebook sometimes. :)
I have sold chicks in the past on craigslist; it reaches a large local area. The best ways have been either selling young hens ready to lay in a couple of months or trios of 2 young hens & a rooster, that are great for new chicken owners that want to get started like now. Best wishes.
