THE CHEEPS ALMOST GOT ME!!!

Pics
Ah, the Wilco - I stopped off at the Gig Harbor location on my way home from work about a month and a half ago. For hay. Nothing more. The hay cards are in the SAME FREAKING aisle as the chicks! They had just arrived that morning. They had Speckled Sussex chicks. I'd been coveting them after some serious research. Plus Easter Eggers, with those crazy adorable poofy cheeks! I restrained myself and walked out with only four chicks. Plus the bale of hay, though I nearly forgot that.
Of course, the chicks were the last thing I needed seeing as I just got the surprise Bantam Cochin chicks out of the brooder. But whatever, what's one more integration?!

I was cut off by the wife cause I came home with 14 instead of 10.... that brought our count up to 45 total, full grown and not so. Well 45 isn't a good round number, so last weekend when I wad left unstoopervized, i snuck home with 3 light Brahma and 2 Cornish crosses. 50 is a good round number. .... :D
YES!! 17 is a weird number. I think 3 more makes sense... round 20. :)

Oh fun!! Another PNWer. :) If my Wilco had Speckled Sussex... I would be a gonner. LOL What 4 chicks did you end up with? Are they kicked out into the coop yet? Integration go okay?

We have a local bulletin board, and people post most things, a lady posted she had ordered some chicks and had extras, I resisted and thought, "I have eggs in incubator, I don't need'm." Fast forward a week, she still had the chicks no takers. I asked how many she had extra, she said 23. How much? 1 dollar each. So I got them all. I am going to share them with a couple of friends when they are old enough to go with out heat.

I really only wanted about 6. Novogen, EE, and Welsummer.

She lived in town and had 20 her self, maybe 16 more then she's "s'postwo". She was happy to give'm to me, she had them in a fish tank, I have them in a saltbox chicken house, but it is getting small fast.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA This is so good. LOL I hope you have room in the coop!

Oh lordy, lordy, lordy. 14 Black Copper Marans, 3 Isbars in the brooder now, 24 BCM eggs coming with 10 Cream Crested Legbar eggs, me running around like a nutcase with power tools building my 'growing on' brooder, orders for chicks coming out of my ears and a husband who stares at me as if he's not quite sure who I am....... I sure am glad all the rest of you whackos are out there, it would be awfully lonely all on my own!:frow

Oh, yeah - they only had 23 Speckled and they had just arrived. I had no chance! I ended up with two Speckled and two EEs and restrained myself as I still have to integrate the bantam group! No integration yet, Wilco group still sharing the guest room with Nibbler (the Holland Lop), but I am hoping for integration of both chick groups over the next month. Fingers crossed!
