Aaawwww, poor guy! I have such a soft spot for the ones that get bullied :hugs... I’ll be so happy to see him in his new set up with his new ladies that’ll hopefully appreciate such a sensitive guy:love
I hope so! If all goes according to plan, he'll b in with his new flock by Christmas!

7 eggs today!
I have no idea which of the Silver laced are laying/not laying. Jackie was investigating the nest boxes early this morning, but did not get in that I saw.
I haven't seen anyone else show interest in them yet, but have seen everyone else lay, of course.
I still don't know if Susan is laying or not. I *have* seen her in a nest box, but with all her chicks squashed in with her! They all roost up high now, but Susan likes to hang out in the nest boxes in the morning before I open the door.

Yay! Did your gals just start laying recently? Mine started this summer but I don’t think that my Barnevelder is laying... not sure why:confused:.. she is 7 months! And neither is my Silkie. My Gold Laced Wyandotte started laying awhile back but only lays MAYBE once a week! And the shell is SO soft that after she lays she fools with it.. then the shell brakes and she eats it:he I don’t know why hers are like that cuz everyone else has nice strong eggs... and have oyster shell! If this doesn’t change I may get rid of her cuz she is also a bully!!!

Yes. Got my first egg end of August, and have had a new layer almost every week since! My youngest pullets hatched April 25, if I recall correctly.
I don't know why your youngsters aren't laying. Not enough protein? Don't like the nest boxes? Bullied by older hens? Decreasing sunlight putting them off?
I have some truly lovely best boxes, built by my uncle, and a light in the coop that goes on in the morning at about 3:30, to encourage the last of the pullets to start. I've never had pet chickens before, so I am just sort of making it up as a go along, but it seems to be working! So far, all of my girls have started laying right in the nest boxes, despite free ranging.
Although they missed the memo chickens like to lay in the morning. I rarely get any eggs before noon!

Correct! I get eggs after 5:00pm sometimes
And all the gals do lay in the boxes for sure.... mine do not free range.. on one hand I would LOVE to let them free but on the other I’m too afraid of loosing some:(.. and we also have dogs.. one is a duck hunter soooo....
Maybe she isn’t allowed in the nest cuz she is lowest in rank.. I have thought of that but I just don’t know.. she doesn’t do the squat either so maybe she is a late bloomer.. and the Silkie I heard are late layers:confused:

I'm sure she will lay when she is ready! Although from the looks of it, you have plenty of eggs to be getting on with!
