An observation I have made after reading so many coop articles. I don’t think people understand that these are articles used to help others build their own coop. I think many are just sharing pics. Is there a way members could just share a link to their coop without making it an article?

Articles that are sharing pictures like that are eligible for the member pages. I have moved some to there. If you see one that should go to a member page, add it to the Spread sheet that Sumi posted for us

So although you don't think it is a "good" article it can still be good for ideas.

Absolutely! I am just torn when the rating is on the details in the article but the coop is nice. I personally love to look at ideas on Pinterest and will save all kinds of pictures, but if I need the details I would do a google search for a good link with explanations. It would be nice to have someway to differentiate on here as well. Kind of like a warning, “ this is only pictures” or “ detailed build” depending on which I am looking for. If that makes sense.....

Very True!

Some should still be a Member page though. IF there is one picture of a coop and 200 of baby chicks and stories about how they traveled as a family to get them. Then individual pictures of each chicks and a bit of a diary as they grow up....updated over several years....It is a member page

I should add some history. When we moved over from the old site, the articles were dumped into a jumble of not separated mess. There were attempts to automate classifying them but mostly they were manually moved into categories. Member pages were in the mess and some of them were moved into the wrong place, like small coop.

Yeah, it is all VERY subjective... which is why we want multiple ratings per coop article. What might not be helpful to one person, may spark creativity in another.

I'm actually ok with a coop article being only pictures... even if it isn't a ton. Now, will it win any "most helpful article" contests? Probably not. Will it possibly inspire someone when building their coop? Very possible!

... but like Ron said, if the article isn't clearly a page about a coop and/or coop build (it's just a ton of stuff AND a coop) thrown in together, it might be better as a "member page".

So, if in doubt, I just leave them in the Coops section and let the ratings sort them out
