I was surfing the web and came across a forum and website called BackyardChickens.com. I checked their list of Breeds and saw "Americaunas". I've seen people misspell Ameraucanas this way before and now understand where they are getting it from. I wanted to contact the people behind the site to ask them to correct the spelling, but there is not contact info. They want all inquiries to be posted on their forum. The problem is I don't want to register and log-in to another forum that I don't plan to use again...so if one of you is a member of that board please politely ask that they correct the spelling. They do have Ameraucana spelled right in the description about the breed, but the heading is "Americaunas".

I see they have a photo with the caption "Blue Wheaton Americauna". Not only is Ameraucana spelled incorrectly, but wheaten is also.[/

That message is a copy and paste from an Ameraucana breeder friend of mine. I thought I'd pass on the info. as he is very knowledgeable about Ameraucana's and Wheaten's as well.

I doubt that BYC is responsible for the misspellings of the world, but just in case, I sent the link to this post to the owner.
Thanks!

Spelling is DEFINITELY not my area of expertise, and much of the content on BYC was inherited from the previous owner (passing the buck).

That said, if something is spelled incorrectly or if information is incorrect on BYC, please send me a link with the appropriate spelling / info.

Thanks!

I enjoy all the mispellings, specially when I do it

I think most of us at BYC do our best but its all in fun. Plus its hard for some when the hatcheries can't even get it right. I haven't looked lately but some of the hatcheries still sold "Araucanas"

Ameraucanas-Easter Eggers-Araucanas...they all lay cool eggs .......... I leave the correct term's up to the web sites geared specifically for breeders and exhibitioners.
