~The Council Of Youngers of BYC! (COY)~

Or, to use the snotty-sounding term, compositionally banded. :P

What about pink granite? I'd totally want to be pink granite if I weren't already a slate.

Pink granite is pretty!

I like stripy more. Sounds more relate-able, I like to blend in with the common folk.

Wise choice. The best of both mafic and felsic worlds. Pink granite, however delightful, plays only for the felsic side.

Good afternoon everyone.

I just sent a long email to one of my lecturers complaining about the marking rubric of one of our discussion board assignments. :P (I barely got half marks even though I made the most posts out of all 150+ people in the course - thanks for the practise, BYC - and started many conversations within other threads. The marks I lost were for not starting my own thread, which wasn't even specified in the rubric.)

I find it remarkable how civil, constructive and coherent I am able to sound when engaging in correspondence over the internet. In real life I usually just smile and nod, and when prompted into opening my mouth say something which I come to regret, or think up a better substitute for five minutes later.

Eesh, that sounds obnoxious! It isn't fair to dock your points for not doing an assignment you weren't given.

On that second point, welcome to the human race.

Yes, I'm glad I had something to talk about to get leverage on a reconsideration of my mark. :P

Wahey, glad to be part of the club.

I'm listening to podcasts of our student radio's weekly political show. They've just done an interview with one of the prominent socialists at uni who apparently started a protest with his friends by singing at Christopher Pyne (education minister). That sounds funny. I wonder if anyone videoed it. :P

(They've also got interviews with the Libs - I listen with a mixture of admiration and abject horror.)

Score! I've had my grade increased to almost full marks. Which is good enough considering where we started.
