The coyotes swarmed

I can shoot them year round if they are in pursuit of livestock however I can only hunt them down on the crown land surrounding from Sept 1 to April 1.

They are way overstocked here, and the coat is not worth anything, they have poor condition and mange. Not something I want for a hat or coat.

Nothing in the traps so far, and I have not had time to just sit out there with my call so I'm not being very productive at solving this. However I did move the dog and she has not been bothered since.

Where abouts in BC are you? I have a friend in Langley that has a pair of Maremmas and she has pups now and then. I am think of getting one of them in the future. I bought some snares off line for my coyote problems here and placed them on the fences where they were coming through. I never caught one but they avoid the spots where the snares are so they don't come through anymore. You may want to find a trapper in your area. They will have the license and all the equipment to catch the coyotes.

I'm in the Chase area, just east of Kamloops. If you or your friend know of any adult Maremmas that need a great home please pass the information on to me! I am rasing a pup right now and I don't think 2 would be a good idea, she was way better off when she had a 'anchor' type mature dog with her.

I'd consider any adult LGD breed, but I really do like the Maremmas.

I'm glad you were there to protect the pup. My Great Pyrenees does well here in NM, the temps can be well over 100F for several days in a row. I keep Mozart brushed out and have a groomer thin his triple coat at the beginning of Spring and Summer, then by Fall it's filling in again. Good luck on your situation.

Well the tide turned today. I had Neve loose, been working on that, staying on the property and leaving the chickens alone, she has been really good for weeks so I went into the house for lunch. I heard chickens squawking and bolted outside expecting to see her being bad but no, she was bolting across the yard in pursuit of a coyote behind the barn, the chickens were running towards her! The coyote ran off but she did not pursue it any further, she looked like she really had no idea why she had started at this. So I praised her and encouraged her with Go Get IT! and went after the coyote myself to help her understand. Of course we never got near it but I think she got the point, and by pursuing to the property line and turning back I hope she got the boundary reinforced too.

She sorta alerted on the neighbor this am when he came to get eggs too, I think she is starting to mature! Still acts the puppy part mostly but getting some ideas from instinct now.

Good job both of you. When the babies grow up it is such a mixed blessing hey. Any luck with finding her an older already trained baby. I know you said you were looking. Also how is the traping going
