Ashling reached up high into the branches of a huckleberry bush, gathering the plump red berries. (I know huckleberries can also be blue, purple, black, and other colors, but mine are red) She listened to the sweet singing of the birds around her and joined in with their joyful melody.

Ashling glanced up at the sudden noise and dropped her grass basket with fright. She backed up against a tree, the fear showing plainly in her eyes. (She hasn't seen anyone except for birds and other animals for like 5 years)
