"Now, dogs... and whatever else animal is here.... you now see, what happens when you mess around with us. We're dangerous..." Mark snarled as he point the barrel of the gun towards Fido's head. Fido didn't move, afraid of anyone else getting shot. "Now... you see." Mark laughed evily as he pulled the trigger.... he pulled it again... and again! "DARN IT! JIMMY, ITS EMPTY! WHERE"S THE REST OF THE BULLETS??!!" Mark shouted agrily at Jimmy. Jimmy reached into his pocket to get the bullets, but by the time they both looked at Fido, he was gone. We were gone! Buddy, Gracie, Fido, Me, Tink, Rio and Carrot ran together through the woods, making quite a racket as we went. Rio and Carrot rode on Tink's back, and Fido carried me in his mouth. Ever since my parents had growled at me, I had stayed well away from them. Fido was my uncle, so he took care of me now. "Why... why did my parents growl at me??" I wondered aloud. Fido answered, "They're driving you away... its perfectly natural. You're old enough now to survive on your own, so they kinda have to give you a push, or a growl, to make you go out on your own. And I guess I'm not helping you by carrying you... so..." and with that he put me on the ground and continued running. "WAIT! I can't run that fast yet!" I yelped as I hurried to stay in view of them. Suddenly i remembered master! Where was he? I stopped and looked around me, and listened, but no sound came to my ears. I looked back to where my friends disappeared too... and they were gone! "Guys! Where are you?!" I barked, feeling lost. I decided to walk in a direction which I thought was the right way.... I was wrong. I was going in the opposite direction of my family.

I walked on and on, only stopping to sleep for a short time or get water. Eventually, it became dark. Surprisingly, the snow I walked on was getting gushy and mushy and watery! My dad told me that in a few months all the snow would melt and I would see meadows upon meadows of lush, green grass and flowers. Its called "Spring", I believe. But he didn't say this early! My shadow appeared as the sun shone on my right, melting the snow and making me warm. My outside was warm, but my inside was cold... lonely and sick feeling. I felt like I had just lost a part of me... my family. My stomach growled, sending a message to my brain, "I need food."
So I went hunting, for the first time on my own. I crouched behind some bushes and waited. The sun set and darkness filled the forest. I could see in the dark, so I stayed put for what seemed like hours. Finally, a rabbit emerged from the bushes, digging in the snow trying to eat grass. I remembered my dad trying to catch a rabbit, it wasn't easy. They're fast, they have holes they can hide in, they dodge and put up a great deal of kicking once you catch them. But I had to try. Determined, I waited until he was less than 2 feet away from my bush. Thankfully, the wind was going upwind, so the rabbit couldn't smell me. I pounced, but missed! He took of running, kicking snow in my face. I raced after him, barking with enthusiasm! We rounded a bend and I stopped when I heard a small squeak. A large, muscular cat stood, one paw over the rabbit who now lay still. The large, brown cat had massive claws and its eyes glowed like torches. Its tail flicked and its eyes locked on me.
