The decomposition steps of castrating a cockerel ((GRAPHIC PICS!!!))

This might be a silly question but do you close up the opening via stitches or what? You don't just leave it open do ya?

Also, how does one know you have a boy at 3 weeks? Knowing me, if I ever tried this, I'd end up with a gal and spend an hour looking for something that just wasn't there... lol

I was thinking the whole point of caponizing was to process them older and bigger, but still tender (and w/o the crow)? Is there a specific reason you processed so young?
