The difference between owning chickens and being owned by chickens...

If you own chickens, you have a lil coop and pen area for them.

If your chickens own you, you spent today surrounding your covered field-stone-patio with chicken wire to keep them and their droppings off of it.

LOL... You continually allow them to spill their water and then it freezes so you have to wait for a really warm day to clean the coop... Put the fresh shavings on top of the old, frozen ones!

No wire, just a pooped up patio for me. The idea has come about though!

When you make a special batch of noodles and scrambled eggs just for your chickens.

When you have the pen go right up to the kitchen window, so that you can dump your leftovers straight out to them.

When you go outside just to give them treats.

When your chickens yell at you to be let out and you jump up and go outside immediately upon hearing the sound.

They own me and they know it!

I'm totally owned!! At -35 below I am out there with warm oatmeal twice a day to keep their bellies warm and fuzzy. Or I have to make sure I am home by a certain time in the afternoons so I can let them out of their run for a few hours. OWNED!!

X2....Ohh no my Dh just read this.....and now realizes we are all owned by chickens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its been just a huge masterplan started by two legged feathery butts and they are planning on taking over the world!!! We are all doomed slaves to the chickens

IF you buy premium bird seed, bananas, tomatoes, kale, crickets and meal worms--JUST for them.

IF you go out and sit when it's 22* so they can free range!

IF you plan a larger coop, pick out the paint scheme and design before you get everything of YOURS moved, blinds on the windows, the hot water heater repaired.

Oh, maybe, they do own me... HUMMMMMMM...

I am most certainly not owned by my chickens. I certainly do NOT have to expand my run and coop this weekend, simply because I feel in love with chicks at the feed store. I certainly am NOT buying more chicks just so my 'exotic' bantam roo can have some girls his own size. I did NOT make oatmeal 3 times a day in the -10*. I do NOT hug and cuddle my chickens and let them watch T.V with me.
