The Dorking Breeders thread

Hi all,
I am brand new to breeding Dorkings, and like I suppose many new breeders, I lack self confidence in assessing the breed standard for my birds. I haven't been able to find a checklist or detailed description of the top attributes everyone looks for, so I cobbled one together from reading on the breed. I'm looking to complete my list below with specifics. Are you willing to help?

Must haves:
- 5th toe, detached with its own bone structure
- rectangular body on short legs (I've had Dorking hens before so I think I know what that looks like but if you have additional details here that might help it'll be much appreciated!)
- exact weight? What I have found on weight is all over the place. Should I generally aim for my largest birds?
- color pattern: for silver grey, grey on top and brown on the chest. Any preference for the greyer v. slightly browner shades of grey, or preference for how light or dark the chest is? I've found that the shades of grey/brown change year by year for my hens with the molts, so you might tell me it doesn't matter...
- anything else I need on this list?

Assessment of who should become my breeders at 26 weeks of age. Sounds right?

Individual traits by breeder (would you put any of those in the must-haves? any precisions to bring to those?)
- egg production
- speed of growth
- broodiness

Also, do you all show your birds at state fairs or similar to get another set of eyes on them?
Thanks so much for your input!
