The Dreaded Cone of Shame!

Howdy y'all!

I have a pullet with an eye injury. It will not heal, because she scratches it open constantly. Indeed, the wound is larger and uglier now then it was to begin with. If she were one of my pooches, I would break out the Dreaded Cone of Shame, and put it on the silly beast. You know what I mean, right? The plastic radar dish-looking collar that pets wear to protect them from themselves? Yeah, that thing. Has anyone used one for a chicken? If so, how did you make it? Or, are there other ways to keep her from tearing this open over and over?

Yeah. We actually did put the cone on one of our chickens. The vet mad it out of a coke bottle.

Outstanding! Was your chicken still able to eat and drink? I guess the vet wrapped the cut edges, to blunt them, with tape...?

She was able to eat and drink, but we had to monitor her, because she did not like it and the vet said that some chickens will refuse to eat while having the cone on, and you will have to force feed them by mashing up food and squirting it into their mouth.
