Wow lots of great info on the 17 pages I just read over! Thank you all so much I feel much better about my ducks new pond

The corn snakes have decided that the feathers hotel is a great bed and breakfast..... found one in one end wrapped around a chicken and trying to squeeze her like a python.... never saw that before... she was nesting.... I thought she was dead and grabbed snake and shook it til it dropped my bird.... then turned it loose and cut it in half with the shovel.... I normally don't kill snakes.... but they don't normally kill chickens.... Saved the eggs... went to get the eggs from the other end and da...mmmm if there wasn't another one just laying on top of a couple of eggs.... Someone sent the message of B&B..... killed it also.... dug a deep hole to put the 2 snakes and another one for the chicken.... went to get the hen and when I picked her up she started moving.... within minutes she was running around the place raising hell..... Ever heard of a possem chicken...???? The animals are getting weird... is halloween close by....????

I have the camera at home so I can post more pics. The plants in the growing trays are going pretty well. I have fish in the pond now instead of the ducks. They have a kiddie pool.

Any thoughts I had of letting the ducks free range again went right out the window when I stepped out back the other day and saw a hawk using the pond as a drinking fountain while it eyeballed the ducks in their covered pen

Very impressive Wifezilla! I do have a question though. Did you have to get a permit for your pond or is it small enough not to matter? I'd like to build one in the back, although probably a little bigger than yours, I'd like to get rid of the prairie dogs that are currently infesting the back forty

Also, lots of great info here, and something I would like to try for next year, even without the ducks (although we will probably have ducks

who can resist a duck?
