The Duck Thread

Their will be pooh in water and food no matter what you do. I have tried the food dish for rabbits. It doesn't work.for at lest my ducks they could get food from it. I had to use a dog dish shallow metal. A small shallow Tupperware dish no lid. A wash tub. For water because they wouldn't drink from bowl. I gave up and just let them swim in there water dish. You could use an old paint pan. Or get a new one long as it doesn't have paint on it. Paint can be toxic .(for water).or a tin pie pan.metal pie pan. I wouldn't do glass because of breakage. Just make sure you 1-7 day old doesn't drown in water.after. 7 days watch closely around water.

Good morning I'm new, avid duck lover, just had my friend build this duck cabin for me it will be floated in my heart shaped pond..... The pond was heart shaped when I bought the place I swear

Adorable duk house.

What do you guys feed your ducks? I'm getting more Saturday at least one drake and 3 females
Some feed layer other feed an All Flock and always have oyster shell out in a separate bowl for layers. I keep it out even if feeding layer feed some just need more. I also crush up egg shell and give to mine they love them.

I have the all flock . The egg shells and poultry grit we use for chicken them seem to like it. And there nightly veggies. Mine or adult though.

For all of you who have, in the past, asked if ducks can fly. Well, we just had a Blue Swedish, a Fawn Runner, a Khaki drake and two Cayugas take off flying and make it over their 6 foot fence into the field where they were being chased by our Toulouse geese for intruding in their space.

Of course they have a sustained wind or 40 mph to give them extra lift. It was really fun watching them fly while trying to avoid us getting them back into their pen. Fortunately the wind is from the north so they can't get the lift to fly into the yard where the dogs are. And, it probably won't be the last time today that we have to go rescue them. Silly ducks.
