The Duck Thread

So sorry to hear about your baby mallard!!! :hugs:hugs

My little baby is no longer so little!!!! And he is being chased around by my mallard drake who is about 1/3 his size! Mallard got put in timeout for the morning. Any other advice to help them get along a little better? They have been fine together the past few days but our mallard female has been sitting on a nest out by the pond during the day (we tried moving it last night, she wasn't thrilled about that idea) when she is around the drake is much more "aggressive" (chases and nips at ducklings (7wks) butt)

I am adding ducks to my hatchery this year. I was wondering how you guys incubate your duck eggs. As far as temperature, what is the recommended humidity, and how long do duck eggs incubate for? Any advice would be super helpful. Thank you

I have two Pekin ducks that are about 7 weeks old. One injured it's leg and I thought I was just sprained because they tend to trip a lot, but it hasn't gotten better so I am taking it tomorrow to the vet. I was wondering if it was okay to leave the other behind alone and how long we could safely have them separated without stress getting too much.

:hugs Rough night. Sorry about your babies. Sounds like little duck just wasn't ready- nature is rough.

Does your broody have other eggs she is sitting on?

Yeah I have 3 Muscovy, 2 KC, and one Peking trying to I think. So I'll have lots of babies just really wanted to have the mallard. Her mom was one of our originals that came with property. Yesterday was 37 days for a Muscovy in a culvert. Finally sent my daughter in to see what is going on. She has 17 eggs in there! All look okay I think but the air sacs are really big. Not sure if that's normal. No internal pips (beak in air sac right?) But we'll check again tonight. Should have more chicks at the end of the week too.

I have two bonded Pekins and if it were me I would take both, haha. I don't think that's nessecary though. The lone duckling will be okay for the length of a vet visit, although they will certainly not be happy about it.

17 eggs!!! Holy moly!!!!! What are you gonna do with all those scovys? You can send some to me, haha.

I don't have the first clue about hatching so I am absolutely no help there:(

Super excited to see how all your hatching goes. Praying for all good things to come your way- you need a break from the crud! :fl
