The Duck Thread

Thank you for the reassurance. I have books on chickens, need a duck book apparently...
I would recommend getting books on "poultry" as that talks about ducks, chickens, etc.

(I like: "Storey's Guide to Raising Poultry")

I ordered both Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks and Storey's Guide to Raising Poultry when I set my duck & turkey eggs. The Poultry book touches on everything, but the duck book is more in depth on just ducks, so I wanted both. Plus, they are different authors, so I though both perspectives would be nice. I believe the sticker price on each is 19.99 but I ordered from Barnes & Noble for around 15 each.

Ok seriously ducklings, how long does it take to hatch?? Its been over 24 hours sense first pip and not one has totally unzipped... I'm starting to understand why there seem to be so many assisted duck hatches.... They sure take their time...
This is normal right?
Oddly enough one of ours hatched out five days after she was supposed to. Although she was smaller than the others until they were fully grown, she has always been the most active and a real renegade. If any was going to get in trouble ... she is always the one. Be patient and, if they don't all hatch right away, leave it for a few days.

Awwww, how pretty! And the ole "had-to-pee" excuse... I prefer the "dog-woke-me-up" excuse! HAHAHA

and it looks like we had the same art teacher... our air cell circles look exactly alike!
