The Duck Thread

8 for 8 out. But I walked myself into an assisted hatch ( long story ) and the last one to come out has an open naval, what is the best course of action? I have hydrogen peroxide, iodine, and triple antibiotic ointment with no painkiller... It and a companion are still in the incubator. Only out of egg a half hour now max.

Congratulations on your successful hatch.

iodine water down like weak tea, then after drying put some triple anti on it keep off shavings till fully closed and dry. old clean towels or puppy pads for now. and keep the others from messing with it even if you have to put up a divider in the brooder for now. Congrats on the great hatch!!

The one who's face you can't see has the open navel, about a 2mm opening. He seems fine otherwise.

Main thing you have to worry about is infection so keep it as clean as you can always wash your hands when treating it and hopefully by morning it will be absorbed and dry. those are some cute babies.
