The Duck Thread

Please don't think I'm being insensitive, but I think if you were to look inside her you would find most of the yolk still in her belly and that it was full of infection and/or there was a defect Involving the intestines, possibly the Meckel's diverticulum.

You tried to save her, but I suspect that even the best vet could not have saved her.

RIP Cocktail, you will be missed.

It's not insensitive. Necropsies help us learn. I won't be opening her up though! Honestly, might on another one someday. Knowledge helps in the future!

I'm sorry to tell everyone. Cocktail died.

You did an amazing job. Everybody did. And yes, there will be others of us that have followed along, that will face similar situations. Being able to read the conversations and see pictures will prove invaluable. Not trying to be overly dramatic, I just know that plenty of us would invest the same amount of time! Thanks so much for letting us follow on the forum instead of going the PM route. Anyone who chooses to incubate and hatch any type of eggs will eventually be in your shoes.

I love the idea here that people can share their knowledge. Every idea or been there done that, can help someone! Plus it's got the bonus of duckie pictures!!!
