The Duck Thread

So we are thinking about adding peacocks to our little family. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about them and if they live well with ducks

Many people who have ducks and chickens also have peafowl. We plan to get some when we move. Probably the most important thing to know about them before you consider anything else is that they are VERY, VERY loud. I mean REALLY loud, not like Call ducks loud. Big consideration if you have neighbors nearby.

Luckily I have no neighbors real close so that will be ok. I'm having a real hard time finding anyone that sells them around where I live.
Do you lock them up at night like ducks?

Whether it will be okay depends on your neighbors. They make various different noises. The loudest one, the clarion call, is the most offensive-sounding one as far as many people are concerned, and it can be heard as far as 5 miles away.

They can be locked up, same as ducks, chickens, etc. Locking them up with help to reduce the noise to some extent.

At the moment I've used the continuous flash on my phone and put a toilet paper tube over it. Haha. Will the LED light be a ton brighter?
Actually that is about the most clever and resoursful solution that I think I have read yet. If it works it may be fine. The flashlight will give you a bit more control I think and it may be brighter, expecially if you get a small one with 3 or more LED bulbs. But what you are doing sounds really interesting.

Haha thank you! It's definitely not bright enough but I can see into the egg. I will have to get an LED light. Like I said I can see in the egg and that something has happened to the yolk, but that's it... I don't think id be able to see veins or anything this way.
