The Duck Thread

Yup, new door was built and my hubby is making sure he leaves Odin (guard dog) in that area at night. Our guard cat does nothing lol

Hey guys! I had a few seconds so I wanted to pop in and see all the new pictures here. Love them all.

I unfortunately have zero to add as I've been dealing with a very very sick dog. My sweet schnauzer, Maiya, was diagnosed with lymes after developing sudden rear end paralysis. By sudden I mean, she was playing outside and then ten minutes after we came in the house she could no longer use her back legs at all. Fiance and I have been camping in the living room on the couches so we can be with her over night. Our bed is to tall to risk a fall. Please keep my sweet baby girl in your thoughts. It has been a rough week.

The ducks finally moved outside but not to the coop. We had to build them a temp pen for now. With the sick dog and the work schedules, the garden..etc...etc.... the coop is not finished yet. Not too long now though!

I will try to get some new pics of my ducks tomorrow. Hope you all are doing better than we are here!

Oh Wobbles, I'm so sorry...your poor doggie. :( Man, why do ticks have to exist? I hate them so much. I hope she pulls through, some dogs even regain all their motor function after passing the toxins, so you never know. I'm rooting for your four-legged fur baby!

Thanks Amykins. I despise ticks and that is a big reason we got ducks. They are horrible here! Maiya has been improving slowly. This girl is a pure 12 pounds of spunk so I think she will pull all the way through. She has gotten use back of one of her rear legs now at about 85 % and the other that was the worst is at about 20%. She is also much more alert now. She has her antibiotics and also Rimadyl (I understand that to be like an aspirin type thing? Oddly, it makes her loopy like vicodin would for people). But the journey has been tough, I can't stand to see her suffering. She is such a love bug. Though I am glad she did show symptoms (wish they hadn't been so severe) because her vet said some never show any signs and they are just gone. I'll take a victory no matter how small it may be ;)

She is the salt and pepper (grey) one in the front.

Oh no, poor girl. I'm glad she is already doing better. Hopefully she will be back to normal in a few days. :hugs

Maiya is just so darn cute! How can you not love those shnauzer jowls? *melt* I'm so happy that she's improving!

...Did you tell your vet about the sedation effect? 'Cuz Rimadyl isn't supposed to do that.

You have such sweet little dogs. I truly hope Maiya will come through with no residual problems. If it's any comfort to you, one of our dogs gets Lyme every single year. She always comes through it fine with the meds, and she's still going strong. I've gotten where I just expect the Lyme diagnosis when we go to the vet, though it scared the life out of me the first time it happened years ago.
