Pasting this from what I was telling Lacrystol in the Call duck thread:
Not positive what happened to her just yet. She was fine last night when she went into the pen, floating in the pond dead when we first went out around 11 am today. She'd obviously been dead for several hours because the rigor mortis had already subsided. No injuries I could detect when we examined her, and my diagnosis (not being a vet) is oviduct eversion that wasn't caught in time. I already put in a call to our vet as soon as we found her and asked him to please try to get us in sometime tomorrow, but his office doesn't open until 10 am.
We lost our best little show girl overnight last night. Acting fine when they went in the pen last night, came out this morning to find her floating in the pond already gone. I'm so depressed I can't even think of anything to do today other than mess around on the Internet and try not to think.
Day 23 of my duck eggs in the incubator. I was hopeful for at least 7 of the 31 but no movement tonight not sure if I should try again or if its to late in the year
So my husband says Rambo only has 4eggs now. He says that there was one egg splattered on the coop's floor. No dead duckling or any sign of it ever being fertile...should I candle all eggs early on when they sit on them? I thought they would sit ONLY on fertile ones?

No, that's not the case. Ducks will set when they get ready to set. The don't know if the eggs are fertile. Candling early on, meaning after they've been setting for 6-7 days, should tell you if there's anything going on inside the eggs. Just handle them very carefully if you want ducklings. Jarring the eggs can break the tiny forming blood vessels.
Thanks everyone. Today is another better day! She is now moving her really bad back leg some and even able to put a tiny bit of weight on it.Phew.
@Amykins , I did call the vet about the meds making her loopy. She thought maybe it was the combo of meds plus how weak she is. I seem to remember last time she was on Doxy that it made her a bit silly too. So maybe it is the doxy. I know sometimes I feel off with antibiotics. It still worries me a bit though.
@JadeComputerGal I am so sorry for your loss!
I finally have photos! Now, this is a temporary fence and no it is not up to my standards as far as safety goes but it was the only option I had for now as they could not stay in brooders one more day. Super coop will be done very soon I hope.
