I've been trying to figure out a way to post some pics I don't have a computer just my phone. And I think my chicks are just being chickens they are friendly though and enjoy attention. I just adore how friendly my ducklings have been. The lot I'm supposed to be getting also has the add on solid cover to help keep rain out and I'll be enclosing the top with wire I want to make sure they are safe. My neighbor keeps his ducks in a dog lot but its not covered and I would worry something could climb in, we have coyotes around and possums. I'm also going to keep them close to the house to try to help keep predators away

And dont forget Birds of prey!

When mine were mostly feathered and I could let them roam around the yard. I kept the back door open and stayed close so I could keep an ear on them. They would panic every time they saw one circling, or I would freak out when I would hear a hoard of crows, or other lg birds roosting in the trees in our woods directly behind our yard. I would run out there and heard them into their kennel and breathe a sigh of relief.

They don't like windy days either, it confuses them with the swaying branches, it makes them panic and hide.

The ducks still watch the tree branches for them and anything out of the ordinary they run back to their kennel/house where they think its safe.

Any other time they stay outside till sundown, rain, snow, or sunshine.

The four legged critters(possum, foxes etc...) will climb in or dig under whether its covered or not, racoons will reach in and grab parts of the ducklings and pull therm through and eat them. luckily I have not lost any to predators.

Om my this exactly why I have kept them inside this long I don't want anything to happen to them or them to be terrified. They have been so happy inside unfortunately they will be too big to stay inside in safety I will do everything I can to keep them safe

I get visited by a pair of Mottled Ducks every year during breeding season about February to May. They hang around the pool each morning about 9:00am, fly away, and come back before sunset. I was thinking about converting my dog house (My dog died) to a more suitable duck house. Can Mottled Ducks (Florida Mallards) be kept as pets in Florida without permit? They can fly in and out at their leisure so I am technically not raising them as pets, just providing them a shelter, Pool and possibly food from time to time at no charge.... Pictures of my snowbirds below....

To post pics from your phone, try switching from Mobile to Desktop (buttons on the bottom of each page). Its a little difficult to read of course, but you should be able to upload pics and switch right back to Mobile.

even if you could catch them, they are migrating ducks. It's best to go to a breefer or the feed store, get some non migrating ducks. Then you can hand raise them. it's wonderful when they come up to eat from your hand.

or i thought you could find a rescue near by and get yourself some duck's that will leave you a surprise.."egg's" they lay just as much as a chicken. Here in Arizona one rescue has tons of duck's. You might even have your pick of a pretty breed. That way for sure you'll know you'll get a hen, and not a Drake.

Just incase no one else knows... Ducks love showers...

At this size they are still dirty after a swim, the tubs just not big enough, so after their bath I shower them off, they really seem to love it!

I know, now that its warming up every morning when I fill up their water I give the ducks a little sprinkle with the water hose ;-)

Sorry bout the edit, need to preview more bf i hit submit ;-)

They are spoiled. .
