The Duck Thread

A big cardboard box!! Or bathtub is what I use but seriously why would you bring them in at night? The only time mine are in the house is when they have a health issues ducks are very cold hardy millions of ducks survive every winter. As long as they are safe from predators and have at least a windbreak they should be fine outdoors no matter how cold now keeping water available unfrozen might be another issue! Ha ha

I agree. My ducks overnight in a plastic shed (with lots of ventilation holes drilled in it) with a pine shaving bedding. It gets down around -20F frequently at night here. When it is below 20F, they have a single 250W heat lamp about 3-1/2 ft above the ground. If it is above -10F, they are very seldom under the lamp for more than a couple of minutes here and there. They generally sleep against / near the walls. Because of this, I am considering getting a thermostat that is 10F colder. I have many breeds including runners. Pekins (and Rouens) laugh at the cold. (Please note they are well protected from drafts.)

Got this one for you Miss L.
