The EE braggers thread!!!

I ordered 30 straight run Easter Eggers from Schlechts that arrived today. About 15-16 of them are solid yellow and the others are mostly chipmunk-y. Could the yellow ones be the males? They also seem a bit aggressive and were attacking my finger (andbobbing their heads) when I waved a finger at them.

Most of the female Easter Egger(hatchery) chicks I've seen have a chipmunk pattern. Has anyone noticed a connection?

Thanks (and I hope this is the right place to post this).

Pullets Wanted

This is off topic to the current discussion but I would like to buy some Easter Egger pullets that are 3 months old or more. I just lost 2 of my hens and we want to replace them. I thought I'd seen offerings here but can't find them. I would need them shipped to New Orleans, or can drive within Louisiana or over to Mississippi to pick them up. My EEs are the golden browns and reds with the black tipping/ticking and I think they are extremely beautiful.

Thank you.

When I got my original EE chicks from the local feed store, I got two "chipmunky" ones and two yellow ones. The yellow ones turned out to be one roo and one hen, and they are both white and look like Ameracaunas. The chipmunky ones turned out to be the golden/red type with the black tipping/ticking, which I LOVE. So no, I don't think the yellow ones are males necessarily. btw, I had ordered a roo on purpose.

The main issue over there is no one can agree what to call them. They need to focus on the issue as club members and try and get hatcheries to change there names. Then the Ameraucana breed will have many more fans imo. There is to much negativity with the breed do to incorrect names and people not getting what they want , expect or pay for. Hey sounds like the government

I agree with you! Regardless of what the problem may be, I believe more fruitful results can be achieved if handled calmly, logically, and in a civilized manner. Your comment of our government made me smile : } yes! how ture! if any group, commercial or social, has the misfortune to become the microcosm of our government, surely heading in the direction of chaos...

Thank you for your kind words. I am so sorry they decided to spew their venom at you too. I absolutley love this thread and know you will too. I did recently start a new Ameraucana thread for all the dissatisfied subscribers on the other one. I only started it yesterday and am hoping it will take off. So far it is doing fairly well. Some very nice people have joined as well as some knowlegable breeders. One of them was actually involved in creating Ameraucana breed and getting it approved as an APA breed. So far the atmosphere has been very pleasant and it seems everyone just wants to learn more about the breed and share their own personal experiences. Please come join us over there as well.

I agree with everything you just said. My background in centered around dogs as well as horses and production animals. I have a small background in genetics and some of the statements other subscribers made on that thread really made my brain hurt, because it just didn't make good scientific sense.

Here is the link to the new Ameraucana Breed Thread:

I will be more than delighted to join your thread! I have no doubt that it will be successful. Actually, I am grateful for someone like yourself who stands up for what is fair and correct. Like you, I took genetics, as well as biology classes for 2 semesters, then had to get back to my original degree. Well, we have many things in common which is quite nice..

This color is really stunning! What did your friend mix to get this?

Well being as EE's are so wonderfully unique and colorful I thought it would be fun to share some pic's of my young birds. Still not sure of sex, right now I am thinking pullets? They are somewhere around 8-10 weeks old. They were part of my friends project pen and she just had way too many chickens, so I took a few :).

Oh, wow! they are simply gorgeous!!

Hi, I have posted about some EE pullets [4-6]. I have some F1's with pure blue AM father and Australorp, Barred Rock, and Silkie mothers. The chicks are about 3-4 mo old and are black and blue. All have beards, dark [not green] legs, and are gorgeous. The look very Ameraucana. They would all lay a green or blue egg. The silkie crosses have feathered feet and black skin. Since they are F1's there will not be any brown of pink eggs.
Their brothers are a gorgeous blue who looks just like an AM and a blue barred EE who is also gorgeous with his fluffy beard and blue barring.

Let me know, but they'd need to come together since they'd need to be shipped.
I'll try to get some good pix this weekend.

Well they are beautiful! Is it someplace I can get a few too? YUM!
Oooooo.... I want BLUE egg laying SILKIES!!!!

However, the WheatEn coloring might mess up your beautiful blue/black colors - Aaaah - who CARES! They will be COOL!

Too bad we are so far from each other... I have an F1 silkie x AM EE pair! A blue cockerel and a black pullet. If bred, they would create blue and black silkie-feathered blue-egg-laying babies!
