Hi there! We would love to see some pictures of your birds! I think you will really enjoy this thread, it is one of my favorites. This topic does come up a lot but people will welcome you here and do their best to answer any questions you may have. I don't want to take people away from this thread (as it is truly one of the best on BYC) but there are a few others you might want to check out as well that are about Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers. I will post the links below.

I just posted asking to see pictures of your birds, and here they are! Very cute! It's hard for me to tell what color they are going to be from this picture. Most feedstore birds sold as Ameraucanas are actually Easter Eggers. Here is a link to the ABC's website where you can look at pictures of the 8 APA standard colors for Ameraucanas (even pictures as chicks), so you can get a better idea of what category you birds fall within. Your chicks may not fall within any of those color categories. In that case your bird is either a non-standard ameraucana or an easter egger.

Hatchery 'Ameraucanas' in from the feed store almost never meet the standards for purebred Ameraucana, mostly due to being a color that is not accepted in the SOP (Standard of Perfection). EE has become the catch-all phrase for these mostly blue/green egg layers that are from Ameraucana stock that has been mixed with other breeds. That's why EEs themselves are not considered a breed. One of the biggest clues that you have an EE is green legs (rather than blue or slate). Yours look like one of the more common colors for EE pullets and will probably look something like my girl Monkey.

I love they way she looks and she lays lots of pretty green eggs.

Here's some pics of my hatchery chicks and a few of my own. I've got a few roos in here I think so not sure who's going to get the honors. I'm going to keep this group together and breed them.

Dog: I'mma eatchoo, Roo.
Roo: No, Dog, I'mma eatchoo.
Dog: No, I'mma eatchoo.
Roo: Nuh uh!
Dog: Yuh huh!
Roo: And you'll be delicious too, Dog.
Dog: Back atcha, Roo.
Roo: Dinner at 5pm?
Dog: Come and get some...
Roo: Oh, I'll be servin', Dog...
Dog: That's what she said.
LOL You can see it in his eyes. He just kills them, doesn't want to eat them. He has gotten better though, one got out the other day and he didn't get it. But I was right there.

Thank you all very much for your input! I think my gals after looking at your pics most likely are EE -which is fine by me, now excited to see who lays what color eggs this summer :) Thank you all again you have helped me alot :) i will be def.
