The EE braggers thread!!!

I am sure this question has been answered many times before-most are-but simply do not have time to read through every post. although I did make a good effort. An Easter Egger type rooster crossed with a variety of large fowl-pure bred-hens, what is the chance you will get colored egg layers from any resulting pullets?

If the rooster came from a blue egg - chances are very good. Blue is dominant. If he has two copies (O/O) then the eggs from his daughters will be blue or green. If he has one copy (O/o) you have a 50% chance.

I had four EE chicks in my first batch and they were all skittish and freaked out when I touched them even though I spent plenty of time with them. Three of them calmed down to the point that I could carry them around once they reached POL. The fourth was a rooster and while he'd take food from my hand (that he'd drop and call his ladies to eat), he'd run from any attempt to handle him.

This time around, I have two EE chicks. One is just like that first batch and the other is almost as friendly as the speckled Sussex chick. I'm more amazed by the calm one. :)

That's really interesting, I have noticed that these are my most skittish chicks... My other hens, only one calmed down, which is funny since she was the most skittish as well.
