The EE braggers thread!!!

Just got my first EEs about two weeks ago. I am looking forward to seeing how they end up looking.

Daffadil is the yellow one and...

Cadbury is the little chipmunk looking one.

Quick question..I have an EE that I love. I also just got 4 Wheaton/blue Wheaton ameraucana chicks. I hunted these down specifically for pure blue eggs.
I lurk in the ameraucana thread for info lol but they get pretty serious over there and don't wanna upset them! So if an EE can be an ameraucana or mutt (that doesn't hold true to ABC standard due to not breeding true)...how can Wheaton ameraucanas be "pure" if they can breed Wheaton, blue Wheaton or SPLASH? Splash isn't an accepted color right? Making a splash Wheaton an EE? Probably waaaay over thinkin...

THEY believe that since people use the splash wheatens for breeding blues, that it is ok to call them ameraucanas, lavenders ( no accepted color ) are also called ameraucanas, but other less known projects are shoved off as easter eggers. As for wheatens, as long as they breed true 50% of the time, they are considered ameraucanas. And since blue always has 50% blue chicks it is an ameraucana.

Thanx. I think its a lil hypocritical to call a splash/lav ameraucana. if EEs are rejected cuz there's a standard (color as well as breeding true and ALL standard are to be met) and they're so strict about following it. Seems along the lines of the hatcheries selling EEs as ameruacanas...whew are the ABC-ers nit happy bout that O_O I should stop poking a bear lol was just curious. Thanx much for helping me understand :)

Haha, I agree, and I AM and ameraucana breeder, just one with different views then they do. I think it's just them wanting to control the breed, but they forget that it's one of the newest breed of chicken out there, so it's out for changes. Breeds are always changing, and if a bird breeds true 100% of the time, has blue legs, beards/muffs, white skin, and right body type, why can't it be a ameraucana? And no problem =)
